PORTRAITS OF IDENTITY, PRESENCE AND SELF-POSSESSION

Portraits of women in Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville and Southern Ontario

A woman of your own making.

You have lived, built, loved and changed. This is an invitation to see the woman you are now in a
portrait created for you.

Your presence is reason enough.

You may be marking a milestone, beginning again or choosing something entirely for yourself.
Perhaps you want a portrait with a direct gaze and unmistakable authority. Perhaps you want something quieter: a sense of ease, beauty or recognition you rarely see in photographs of yourself.
There is room for both. We begin with the way you want to be represented and develop the portrait from there.

What would you like this portrait to say?

Your answer shapes our planning. We consider clothing, colour, light, expression and the character of the finished work.
A tailored piece may bring structure. A simple dress may let your face and posture carry the image. Something from your own wardrobe may hold a meaning that no borrowed garment can replace.
Suitable studio wardrobe pieces are reviewed in advance, with fit and availability confirmed before the sitting.

Personally directed. Carefully finished.

You do not need to arrive feeling practised in front of a camera. I guide your posture, hands, movement and expression and give you time to become comfortable.
The finishing is equally deliberate. Retouching considers skin texture, dimension, colour and tonal detail, with care for the features and expression that make the portrait recognisably yours.

A commission for yourself or the women beside you.

A significant birthday. A personal achievement. A portrait with your mother, daughter, sister or a lifelong friend.
We can create individual portraits, shared portraits or a collection that brings them together. Tell me who you want included when we plan your commission

Choose how you want to live with it.

A portrait for your own room. A substantial framed work. An album gathering the expressions and details you want to keep.
At your reveal, we consider the images and their presentation together. This may be artwork you share with the people you love or something you have commissioned entirely for yourself.

“I spent so many years making sure everyone else was seen. For the first time, I stood in front of those portraits and finally saw myself”.

Questions about women’s portraits

Do I need a special occasion?

No. A commission can mark a milestone or simply reflect who you are at this point in your life.

Is this a headshot session?

This is a portrait commission designed around finished artwork. If you also need professional-use images, discuss their purpose and licensing during the initial conversation so the scope is clear.

Can another woman join me?

Yes. Mothers, daughters, sisters and friends can be included in the agreed portrait design.

Do you help with clothing and posing?

Yes. Wardrobe planning and personal direction are part of the experience.

When do I choose my artwork?

You may select a collection before the sitting or choose it at the reveal after committing to the minimum investment at booking. Your portraits are selected at the reveal.
