Grandmother, mother and daughter in brown gowns, multigenerational family portrait by TEMI JOHNSON in Hamilton, Ontario

Multigenerational family portraits in Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville and Southern Ontario

The people who made your life.

The people in this portrait will never be together at exactly these ages again.
Bring them into the frame: parents, children, grandparents and the relationships you want to see in your home every day

A family portrait should hold relationship.

The way your child leans against you. Your father’s familiar expression. The resemblance between your mother and your daughter.
These are the details that make the picture yours.
We create portraits of the family together and consider the relationships within it. The group matters. So do the individuals and the smaller combinations that tell you who belongs to whom.

Vintage family photographs kept across generations

There is no single shape of family.

Young children with their parents. Grandparents with the generations who follow them. Adult siblings returning to the same room. A couple, a parent and child, or the people you have chosen as family.
The design begins with your relationships and who you want included

Getting everyone in one room is the hard part. Let me carry it.

You’ve tried to organize a family photo before. Someone’s late, someone’s cranky, someone’s wearing neon. Here’s how a Family & Legacy commission takes that off your plate.

Let me carry the portrait planning.

Bringing everyone together takes coordination. We plan the wardrobe, groupings, setting and timing before the sitting.
Tell me about young children, mobility needs or anything that will help someone feel comfortable. We can discuss the venue and how to organise the sitting around the people attending.
Standard family commissions include up to six people. Larger groups are welcome, with any additional sitting or assistance fees agreed in writing before booking

Artwork that belongs in your home.

A principal family portrait can anchor a room. Smaller works can bring individual relationships into focus. An album can gather the full collection, giving each person and connection space of their own.
At the reveal, I help you choose the portraits, scale and presentation that suit your family and home.

A family record can grow with you.

New people arrive. Children become adults. Generations gather again.
Future commissions can extend your Living Archive, building a collection of family portraits over time. Begin with the people you want together now

“One day, these photographs will be all my children have to hold onto. Knowing they’ll always see how deeply they were loved means everything to me”.

Family portrait questions

Can grandparents and several generations participate?

Yes. We plan who will attend and which groupings matter to you before the sitting.

What should everyone wear?

We coordinate colours, textures and fit around the portrait design. Suitable children’s wardrobe pieces may be available, with sizes and styles confirmed in advance.

What if we have more than six people?

Tell me the expected group size when enquiring. Additional sitting or assistance requirements
are explained before you reserve.

Do children need to sit perfectly still?

No. We plan with their ages in mind and guide the sitting with room for attention, movement and
breaks

Can you help us choose artwork for a particular wall?

Yes. We discuss the room, available space, size and presentation during design and the reveal.
Installation arrangements depend on your collection and location.
