Fine-art maternity portraits in Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville and Southern Ontario
Before they know you as their mother, there is this woman.
A maternity commission gives this time a lasting form, with portraits designed around you and finished artwork for your home.
The woman within this moment.
You may feel powerful, tender, unfamiliar to yourself, or several things at once. Your portrait can make room for that.
We begin with how you want to be seen. Quiet and intimate. Sculptural and composed. Direct, assured and entirely present.
The light, wardrobe and direction follow that intention. This may be your first pregnancy or another beginning in an already full family life. We create the portrait around your experience.

Designed around you.
What is theBefore the sitting, we discuss the portraits you are drawn to, suitable clothing and who you want beside you.
Maternity wardrobe options are reviewed for fit and availability. You may bring your own dress, jewellery or a piece with personal significance. Partners, children and other family members can be included as part of the agreed design.
During your sitting, I guide positioning, posture and expression. We allow room for you to feel comfortable and adjust the pace around your needs.

Planning your maternity sitting
Begin the conversation in your second trimester where possible. Many clients plan their sitting around 28 to 34 weeks, with the date chosen according to their pregnancy, preferences and comfort. Tell me about any timing considerations or relevant guidance from your maternity care team. If circumstances change, contact me so we can discuss your options before the sitting

Made to hang in the nursery long after it stops being a nursery.
A framed work may become part of the home your child grows up in. A collection of portraits may become an album you return to together.
At your private reveal, you choose the portraits you want to own, with guidance on the artwork and presentation.
“For the first time, I saw myself as more than an expecting mother. I saw the beauty, strength and love my baby will one day see”.
