The Portrait Commission Experience Hamilton

The Experience
From Your Application to Artwork on Your Wall

Commissioning portrait artwork is more than booking photography.

Luxury Maternity Photography Hamilton

It is a guided artistic journey designed to preserve identity, motherhood, family lineage, partnership, and personal transformation through museum-quality heirloom portrait artwork.

At Temi Johnson | Legacy House, every commissioned portrait is created through an intentional and curated experience designed to feel emotionally meaningful, creatively guided, and effortlessly supported from beginning to installation.

Clients often describe the portrait commission experience as one of the most personal artistic collaborations they will ever undertake.

A Guided Artistic Collaboration Designed For Legacy Preservation

Portrait commissions at Legacy House are created through a structured creative process that blends emotional storytelling, artistic direction, wardrobe styling, and heirloom artwork design.

This experience ensures that portraits are not only created beautifully but preserved meaningfully for future generations.

The portrait commission journey is designed to:
• Remove uncertainty
• Provide full artistic direction
• Support emotional storytelling
• Design heirloom artwork collections
• Preserve family history through portrait installations

This is not a photoshoot. There is no rushed 30-minute session, no gallery of 200 unedited images, no USB drive that sits in a drawer. This is a portrait commission, a fully directed, carefully planned collaboration between you and a portrait artist.

Here is exactly what happens from the moment you apply to the moment your portrait hangs on your wall.

STEP 1: YOUR APPLICATION

You submit a brief application telling me about yourself, your story, and which experience you’re drawn to. The application takes about 3 minutes. I read every one personally.

Within 48 hours, I’ll reach out to schedule a phone consultation where we get to know each other and I answer all your questions. This call is warm, personal, and completely pressure-free.

Step 2: Design Consultation & Artwork Vision Planning

2-3 weeks before your session, we meet (in person or virtually) to plan every detail. Wardrobe, colour palette, mood, creative direction, which combinations to photograph, and the story we’re telling. You’ll have
access to our studio wardrobe collection, you don’t need to buy anything new.

By the time you arrive at the studio, every detail has been decided. All you need to do is show up.

Step 3: Portrait Creation Experience

You arrive at our Hamilton studio. Professional hair and makeup artists are waiting. While they work, I prepare the studio for your specific creative vision.

For 2-3 hours, I direct every moment. Every expression. Every angle. Every shift of light. You don’t need to know how to pose. You don’t need to be photogenic. You just need to trust me.

Most women arrive nervous and leave saying it was the best experience of their year.

Step 4: Artwork Reveal & Selection

Approximately 2 weeks after your session, you return for the Reveal.

This is a private viewing in a darkened room. Your finished portraits appear one by one on a large screen. There is no rush. There is no pressure. There is just you, the portraits, and the moment you meet the woman in the frame.

Most women cry. Not because they’re sad. Because they’ve never seen themselves like this.
At the Reveal, you select your portrait collection.
Payment plans are available.

Step 5: YOUR ARTWORK

Your selected portraits are printed on museum-quality archival materials rated for 100+ years. Professionally framed with UV-protective glass. Delivered to your home or, if you’re local, I install them personally.

From application to artwork on your wall: approximately 6-8 weeks.
